We are on the search for our next intake of apprentices! If you’re enthusiatic, have a desire to learn, and are driven by results, we want to hear from you. We’re looking for people who want to make a difference. 

Our Level 3 Metal Fabrication Apprenticeship includes:

  • Marking out and measuring – transfer complex dimensions to sheet steel using hand tools and measuring equipment;
  • Laser cutting – operate the CNC laser to produce complex shapes in sheet metal through laser cutting;
  • Sheet metal bending – operate the CNC Press Brake to produce complex shapes in sheet metal by bending and pressing
  • Tube bending – operate the CNC Tube Bender to produce complex shapes in tube steel
  • EHS training.

    • Qualifications

  • You should have five GCSEs grades A* – C / 9 – 4 or equivalent, including Maths and English. A Science related subject would be desirable;
  • You will be required to complete Colchester Institute’s mandatory initial assessment process before being invited to an interview;
  • Dedication, passion, and a real desire to succeed;
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills, coupled with the ability to work as part of a high performing team;
  • Motivated, conscientious and considerate of others needs;
  • You should relish a challenge and have a can-do-attitude.

    Apprenticeship Open Event

    Come for a tour at the first mower factory in the world at our Apprenticeship Open Event on Thursday 31st March from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. You’ll get the opportunity to speak to our Manufacturing, Engineering and Customer Care teams, and find out more about the apprenticeship opportunities we have to offer. Parents are welcome too!
