Brief overview of the vacancy role
You will be a permanent member of the Community, Sport and Health team. You will be required to work in the centres across Manchester and under supervision in the community delivering fun, inclusive and engaging sport and physical activity sessions.
Vacancy Description
The Community Activator Coach role is the perfect opportunity to understand the role of sport and physical activity in the Community.
The coach will learn about behaviour change to enable them to develop activities that will support each level of getting and keeping someone active.
They will learn how to actively listen and respond to community group requests for activation.
They will understand how to use effective leadership to deliver coaching sessions that are fun and engaging for the participants whilst understanding that they will become a role model and will need to display the correct behaviours.
They will understand community events; the reasons that community events take place, how to plan and deliver them successfully to meet the aims of the group.
Understand that Manchester is an International City of Sport that regularly attracts international and European events. The role during these events is to activate community sessions during events to be able to encourage the uptake of regular activities and/or volunteering.
They will learn about safeguarding, how to keep records and store information with personal details. They will understand the importance of monitoring and evaluating using this information and how it helps with future funding or future activities.
Understand social media and the importance of getting the message right.
They will work with sports clubs and understand the challenges that sports clubs face in encouraging new members or getting facilities.

Future Prospects
GLL prides itself on its internal Learning & Development and internal promotion levels. This role can progress to further level 3 or level 4 qualifications. Within GLL they could also become a multi skilled sport coach with regular hours and work their way towards Duty Manager role.
