Job summary

The apprentice will be required to work as part of a Procurement Team involved in negotiations and managing of contracts in a range of areas including, Corporate and Clinical areas.

The apprentice will develop analytical skills which will require attention to detail to add value. They must be able to work within the appropriate time scales adhering to the Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders guidelines and controls.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and experience by working as a Doncaster and Bassetlaw Apprentice. The Apprentice will fully commit to the 20% off-the-job training requirements of the post alongside your normal day-to-day job.

The post holder will complete a Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Level 4 course of study and/or all learning and development requirements of the role. The Apprentice will have the opportunity to participate in a supportive environment to develop your knowledge and professional skills required of the role and the team.

Main duties of the job

This role will include working in the Procurement team, providing a reliable and effective Procurement service to the Trust. General work themes will include; a wide range of general administration; customer service (speaking to clinical colleagues); working with suppliers, gaining a good working knowledge of the e-procurement systems.

Duties will include the following – this is not extensive:

  • Provide information to managers and colleagues (orally, written and electronically) as required and answer routine queries from colleagues, managers, customers, budget holders and suppliers.
  • Working with the Procurement team to achieve the cost improvement targets.
  • Follow guidelines set out within pertinent Trust policies
  • Be numerate and able to work accurately with figures
  • Provide information to managers and colleagues (orally, written and electronically) as required and answer routine queries from colleagues, managers, customers, budget holders and suppliers.
