Job summary

We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated, passionate person to join our Podiatry Service. This is an exciting new developmental role that not only will equip the right individual with the skills to become a Podiatry Assistant in the short term but an opportunity to apply to our Podiatry Apprenticeship programme in the future thus becoming a qualified Podiatrist. On top of all this you will ‘earn whilst you learn’ and receive all benefits entitled to you when you join the NHS.

Main duties of the job

This is a developmental role. The apprentice will work towards progression into the post of a Podiatry Assistant as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker through successful completion of the Senior Healthcare Support Worker – Podiatry Pathway apprenticeship, which includes the attainment of a level 3 Diploma. Successfully qualified staff are also required to meet the professional standards in accordance with the Royal College of Podiatry standard.

The apprentice will be based, as an employee within Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) in the Podiatry Service whilst completing this Apprenticeship. As part of this training programme, the apprentice will experience working in alternative settings and possible clinical placements across the Lincolnshire system and beyond. This will provide a wider appreciation of the impact and influence of the profession.

Whilst in work, the apprentice will work as an integrated member and act in the capacity of a healthcare support worker under supervision of a qualified Podiatrist whilst undertaking any off the job learning related to the main apprenticeship programme.
