An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrator Apprentice to join the HR Team. This is 18 month fixed term contract. We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

Main duties of the job

Duties (performed under supervision)

Provide a high quality confidential and comprehensive administrative service.

  • Open and sort incoming emails and other post in a timely manner, and where appropriate, personally prepare and send responses to correspondence.
  • Operate bring forward and reminder systems.
  • Undertake word processing of all documents to a high standard, in an agreed Trust style and using an appropriate referencing system.
  • Develop and maintain electronic filing systems to ensure e f f e c t i v e access to relevant information.
  • Prioritise own workload on a day-to-day basis to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Maintain up to date confidential personal staff files.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for information from other Trust sources as agreed by the Manager. Front of House
  • Act and present oneself in a professional manner at all times.

Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

This is a full time post of 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Fridayfrom 9amto 5pm. During your apprenticeship, you will be enrolled with an education provider and will be required to complete your Business Administration Apprenticeship Level 3 within the duration of the placement. There will be a work-based structured learning programme to follow with support from your manager and mentor.

What will be achieved

  • Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard Level 3 Certificate
  • Level 1-2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if no prior exemption)

Eligibility Criteria:

All applicants must be:

  • Aged 16+
  • Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education
  • You can hold a degree but not in the area of which the Apprenticeship aligns with

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills

Duration of Post

This post provides an opportunity to gain the skills required to continue in the role post apprenticeship subject to meeting certain criteria. It is essential that all candidates sit a Maths and English competency exam prior to taking up a permanent post.
