Overview

This Advanced advanced golf greenkeeper apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 3, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 03/02/2020 and typically takes 24 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship is designed to help you further develop your greenkeeping knowledge to enable you to operate to the highest of standards. It will provide you with the technical skills required to maintain a golf course under the supervision of course managers or head greenkeepers. You will understand the importance of environmental best practice and promote the values of etiquette on the golf course.

As part of the apprenticeship, you will use your knowledge to be able to report on the condition of the golf course, and collect and interpret data from soil and water analysis. You will also have to skills to evaluate and prepare a variety of sites and clubhouse surrounds for renovation, making calculated estimations regarding the resources and programmes of turf maintenance work on the course.

You must be able to work both individually and part of a wider team of greenkeepers, and be a clear and effective communicator to provide and receive accurate information in a timely manner. You will also develop attributes in problem-solving, decision-making and willingness to learn and continue your professional development.
