An Arts Therapist uses various forms of art, drama or music to provide healing services to a range of clients, aiming to improve their physical and mental wellbeing by engaging in complex phycological therapy. These are used to support recovery from a range from medical issues, such as pain and trauma, to ongoing mental health support with anxiety and depression.

Choosing this apprenticeship will provide you with experience working with clients of all ages, backgrounds, difficulties and disabilities. Some will need support with behavioural issues, whilst others may show continuous neurological symptoms, as you train to have to the ability to pick up on verbal and nonverbal indicators in both individual and group sessions.

You will be responsible for your own caseload of clients, each with a wide range of needs and devise support plans to introduce them to healing through expressive art treatments in a safe environment. You will need to use your exceptional people skills and be empathetic at all times, particularly with clients who may find it hard to convey their feelings naturally.
