Overview
The building services design technician was approved for delivery on 09/06/2017. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 36 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
Working as a Building services design technician apprentice, you will be responsible for providing support for engineers and other construction workers with the design of cost-effective and sustainable production models, specifications and complex calculations to ensure they complete construction and infrastructure projects with their targeted deadlines.
Some of your duties will include conducting various forms of analysis, where you will learn to use the appropriate software and simulations systems to help you solve issues or technical problems. You will also make significant contributions to planning and technical drawings, factoring in health and safety requirements and industry regulations, to create a safe workspace for workers that meets the requirements of the proposer. You will work with others to help maintain a high standard of work and learn how to assess your work for errors.
You will also respond to monitor workloads and budgets; therefore, excellent organisational and time-keeping skills are a requirement for candidates wanting to complete this apprenticeship. You will also need to be professional at all times, as you provide updates and communications to stakeholders and senior managers in both written and verbal form.
