Overview

This Advanced building services engineering craftsperson apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 3, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 06/06/2017 and typically takes 36 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Working predominantly on your own and without supervision, this apprenticeship will provide you with the skills and knowledge to design and install various kinds of engineering systems to are used to heat a wide variety of buildings, including hospitals, schools and factories.

You will learn how to install, test, and pre-commission large-scale systems found in large scale industrial and commercial structures and develop a detailed knowledge of how the system works and its operating principles. You will learn to identify the requirements for a job based off the client’s instructions, as you interact with other trade suppliers, engineers and construction workers to solve issues and undertake work that complies with industry standards and health and safety regulations.

As you work in both new building and existing structures, you will develop your knowledge of installing pipework and the joining and fabrication processes associated with it, and install new and decommission existing fuel systems, compressed air systems and water systems. You will need to work effectively and efficiently at all times and take full responsibility for the quality of your work.
