Overview
The chartered surveyor (degree) was approved for delivery on 10/09/2015. This Higher apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 6, non-integrated degree qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 60 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
This apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge to provide professional advice and guidance relating to land, property, construction or infrastructure to a variety of clients. You will be able to support with the design, building, procurement, value and management of property, and protect their physical and natural assets.
The type of buildings you will work with will range from homes and shopping centres, to sports stadiums and skyscrapers, as you utilise a mix of technical and business skills with a general appreciation for the architecture of buildings and the impact they have on the environment.
As part of the apprenticeship, you will choose from three pathways based on your job role:
- Building Surveying – offering professional and legal advice on buildings, and undertaking detailed surveys to identify defects and areas in need of repair or maintenance.
- Quantity Surveying & Project Management – negotiating contracts and evaluating the costs associated with managing construction projects, helping to ensure value for money and quality, including life cycle costing, procurement and tendering, contract administration and commercial management.
- Property – Conducting a range of valuing (including inspecting and measuring), managing, buying and selling services for developing and leasing land and property.
