Assembling and installing manufactured components for construction projects

Overview

This Intermediate construction assembly and installation operative apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 2, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 03/07/2019 and typically takes 18 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Working in the construction sector, you will focus on assembling manufactured components on-site to support projects for infrastructure, residential, commercial, retail, healthcare, education, rail, prisons and leisure.

Conducting your work under the guidance of senior team members or a supervisor, you will take structures and components manufactured in factories and transport them to building sites and install them to an agreed design specification, and responsible for their handling, moving and finishing within agreed deadlines.

As part of this apprenticeship, you will choose from four pathway options:

  • Pre-cast Concrete: Carrying out checks on the slab and mark up positions such as starter bars and rails, and producing structural rebar, strand, grout and other specialist connections as per the design specification
  • Timber Frame: Place and fit soleplates and erecting timber frame panels and structures like roofing and cassette floors, along with their ancillary items.
  • Relocatable Modular and Portable Buildings: Preparing the exterior of building using shot blasting and repainting, and installing its windows, stairways, doors and ironmongery.
  • Permanent Modular Buildings: Erecting modular units and panelised elements, along with temporary works for transportation including bracing, ground anchors and covers.
