Overview

Approved for delivery on the 13/09/2019, the construction design and build technician, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 4, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 36 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

Construction design and build technicians organise the design information on construction projects and analyse it to identify risks associated with the client’s requests or health and safety legislation, and minimise its environmental impact.

You will suggest actions to reduce the chances of issues developing and prepare and present presentation proposals to boost the project’s efficiency and improve the overall standard of work to be carried out. You will learn to understand the projects available resources and its financial constraints and monitor and accurately record its ongoing costs to ensure it falls within its agreed budget. You will understand various construction methods and materials used and how to communicate design information in digital and written form.

As an apprentice in this role, you will need to demonstrate innovation and suggest opportunities for improvement, whilst promoting the values of equality and diversity in the workplace and the industry as a whole.

This Apprenticeship will include the knowledge, skills and behaviours typically required to achieve Technician status or the equivalent with the industry’s recognised professional bodies.
