Overview

Approved for delivery on the 03/07/2019, the construction quantity surveying technician, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 4, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 36 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

Construction quantity surveyors are employed to manage all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects and work to ensure it is completed on time and within the agreed budget.

As a Construction quantity surveying technician, your main duties will include providing expert advice to senior manager, ensuring it complies with legal and quality standards and regulations, and the recording and continuous reporting of income, expenditure and forecasts through a range of verbal, written and digital communication methods. You will also assist managers with contractual issues, supporting the negotiation process, and develop the knowledge to be capable of suggesting innovative solutions to a variety of problems that may arise throughout the project.

To complete this apprenticeship, you will need to have excellent attention to detail and strong analytical thinking skills, in addition to a strong understanding of the uses of complex mathematics in engineering and construction.

This apprenticeship will include the knowledge, skills and behaviours typically required to achieve Technician status or the equivalent with the industry’s recognised professional bodies.
