Overview

Approved for delivery on the 13/05/2019, the drinks dispense technician, Advanced apprenticeship standard provides a level 3, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 18 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

The purpose of this apprenticeship standard is to provide experience and training for apprentices in drinks dispensary, including beer, wine, cider, nitrogenated coffee and soft drinks. Drinks dispense technicians work in the engineering sector of the hospitality, retail, leisure and catering industries. You will work in a variety of venues that serve soft drinks, hot drinks, and alcoholic beverages such as pubs, bars, clubs, hotels, festivals, schools, cinemas, theatres and stadiums.

The primary role of a drinks dispense technician is to install, service, repair and maintain complex drinks dispensing equipment to ensure that the client can deliver drinks of the right specification and quality to their customers. Some drinks dispense technicians may specialise in a particular type of drink, such as beer or coffee. The role involves the application of a broad range of expert skills and knowledge including plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, gas pressure systems and pipe-work.

You may work directly for a brand owner or brewery or may be employed as a contractor to work on their behalf. You will be responsible for adhering to strict health and safety regulations, current legislation, asbestos guidelines and the British Beer and Pub Association and British Soft Drinks Association Codes of Practice.
