What the course covers

Marketing assistants work as part of a marketing team, either for a specific marketing agency that provides a service to different clients or as part of an in-house marketing department within a business. It is the role of the marketing team to create customer-focused marketing activities that are going to increase the sales of a product or promote a message by building brand awareness. Marketing assistants create a marketing strategy which outlines precisely how a company is going to develop a particular perception of themselves amongst the public.

Apprentices will learn to design, develop and coordinate successful marketing activities; these could include marketing content creation, background and market research, collecting and analysing campaign data, using marketing software systems and assisting with marketing administration such as tracking expenditure, producing marketing literature and overseeing the delivery of work by external suppliers.

This is a role found across all industries and in companies of every size. Apprentices may work in health, retail, IT, finance, automotive, manufacturing, etc., within both the public, private and charitable sectors. The level of supervision will depend on the size and structure of the employer but in general apprentices will develop autonomous working skills and will be able to complete their tasks with minimal supervision. However, this is a team role, and you should be comfortable and confident in sharing ideas and working with others.
