Overview

The supply chain operator was approved for delivery on 24/06/2016. This Intermediate apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 2, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 12 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This entry level apprenticeship will provide you with a foundation of knowledge and skills need for a Supply Chain Operator role within the Supply Chain Industry.

You will be responsible for managing the movement of goods for a range of customers across all sectors. Your customers may consist of a variety of sole traders, private customers and even large global organisations depending on the organisation you work in.

Shift work may be a requirement for this role. You might need to work weekends or overnight, and even travel abroad to any international destinations. You will need to be driven and passionate in meeting and even exceeding customer’s needs, ensuring you provide a high-quality service that results in repeat business. This role may present situations where you will need to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, requiring excellent time-management and organisation skills. It is important that you are proactive and are able to work independently as you will be responsible for your own actions and decisions made within the role.

There are two main occupational areas within a Supply Chain Operator role:

  • Traffic Office: This will involve managing goods movements relating to individual accounts or third party from either a manufacturer or a supplier for onward delivery or to a final destination.
  • Removal Operatives: This role will involve the preparation and action of moving office, household and other furniture and equipment into and out of premises or storage. Within this role you will normally go with the removal truck and therefore may require nights away from home. There can be a lot of physical work involved in this role, requiring a lot of lifting, walking, and bending.
