Overview

Approved for delivery on the 24/06/2016, the supply chain warehouse operative, Intermediate apprenticeship standard provides a level 2, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 12 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship presents the opportunity to work in a variety of warehouse environments. You could work within a large distribution centre, a public warehouse, a private warehouse, a fulfilment centre and more.

Your role will involve taking deliveries, moving and storing goods, checking for damaged or missing items, picking and packing, preparing goods for dispatch, completing documentation and cleaning. Within these tasks you will be required to safely use a variety of machinery, vehicles and equipment including forklifts, material handling equipment and mechanical racking systems.

As a Warehouse Operative you will need to communicate with a variety of different people. This will include colleagues, customers and other businesses you work alongside. It will be your responsibility to provide a high-quality service to customers that will result in repeat business.

In this apprenticeship you will become competent in using industry recognised systems and any associated systems, which could include the likes of Traffic/Warehouse Management Systems. Due to the nature of the role you may be required to work a range of shift patterns including possible night, day, evening and weekend shifts. Alongside being flexible, you will also need the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, to ensure delays and wasted time is minimised.
