Overview

Approved for delivery on the 11/06/2019, the transport planner (degree), Degree apprenticeship standard provides a level 6, integrated degree upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 60 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship can be based in a number of businesses including small specialist organisations, large multi-national organisations, government, local authorities, agencies and consultancies.

This role involves the planning, design and development of travel and transport systems that are safe, environmentally friendly and take everyone’s access needs into consideration.

You will be required to apply advanced knowledge of transport planning, analyse data, use transport modelling techniques, determine how outputs meet customer expectations and local and national policies and determine the impact of the possible solution.

More increasingly, Transport Planners integrate technology into transport systems to provide more accurate forecasts, support the likes of intelligent mobility and helps to change individuals’ attitudes of travel. Your work will involve linking transport from a local to international level to support the future growth of towns and cities, protect the environment and improve social relations.

You will be required to interact with a number of different people including members of your team, more senior transport planning professionals, the general public and regulatory organisations. You will be responsible for leading small projects working with autonomy and the ability to respond positively to complex problems and situations.
