We are looking for a proactive and dynamic Teaching Assistant to provide support for pupils who have a range of particular needs in our Primary Phase. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a new 2-form entry provision in an expanding and well-established academy.

This is the perfect position to make a real difference in the development of pupils; you will be working in the classroom and implementing programmes of support designed especially to meet their needs. The role is ideal for a new or established colleague who aspires to grow and develop as an outstanding Teaching Assistant and also great for those who are considering teacher training in the future. Our successful candidate will be based in the Primary Phase of an all-through academy which provides a wide range of CPD opportunities.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be aware of and support school policies and procedures.
  • Work, or play, with individuals, or small groups of children, to assist in the delivery of the planned curriculum, as directed by the Class Teacher.
  • Set up group activities under the guidance of the Class Teacher / Subject Leaders. Work with children on practical activities, giving assistance and encouragement.
  • Read to, and with, small groups of children, on curriculum activities.
  • Assist in the planning, creation and mounting of displays of the childrens work.
  • Provide support and assistance for childrens pastoral needs (e.g. promoting self-esteem, and overall well-being of the child
  • Be prepared to work across all age ranges within the Primary School.

  • Strong listening skills and the ability to prioritise, manage time effectively and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills appropriate to the need to communicate effectively with a wide range of pupils, colleagues and parents.
Apprenticeship Summary
Annual wage: £11,806 per annum (FTE £13,725)
Working weeks: Monday – Friday, Term Time + 1 week inset
Total hours per week: 37 (including the 20% training element of the Apprenticeship) – start and finish times to be agreed
Apprenticeship duration: 18 months approx.
Anticipated start date: As soon as possible
Apprenticeship level: Advanced Level Apprenticeship (Level 3)
Apprenticeship standard: Teaching Assistant
Essential entry qualifications: GCSEs A* – C, Maths and English (desirable)

Future prospects: This apprenticeship could be the start of a very promising career within the wider business.
