Job Description

Applications are invited for the position of Apprentice Engineer to join our engineering team in the Calibration and EMC departments as part of a 4 year Advanced Modern Apprenticeship. The position is permanent meaning job security upon completion of the apprenticeship.

Key responsibilities include working full-time as an engineer with on-the-job training alongside the apprenticeship learning. The college course consists of 2 years day-release along with Apprentice portfolio work taking up to 4 years to complete. Further academic qualifications are available outside of the apprenticeship framework should it be of interest (HNC/D for example) and the successful candidate will show commitment to further learning.

Working hours would be one of two shift patterns depending on department entered;

· Calibration is 8am to pm Mon to Thurs & 8am to Friday

· EMC is am to pm Mon to Fri

Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade 5 or above for Maths and Physics/science.
  • Grade 4 or above for English, other non-physics sciences and technology. 
  • An IT GSCE would also be of benefit but not essential. 
  • Predicted grades will be accepted on application.

    The successful candidate must be computer literate, committed to the academic learning (including the time required to complete course work) and be able to learn and progress within the engineering position on offer.
