Youth Moves

We started life as Positive Futures in 2002, as part of the national Home Office Positive Futures programme, working with the hardest to reach young people in Knowle West.

This became Youth Moves in 2005 and we soon spread our work across most of the deprivation areas of South Bristol. Many of our staff come from the local communities themselves, a number have come through our projects and gone on to apprenticeships and paid roles, and we still have some original members from when we were formed.

Our simple aim is to support young people on their journeys, and we have been on quite a journey ourselves.

We do this through : youth work: youth action, youth clubs, youth activity, youth mentoring, youth voice, detatched youth work, school based work, and targeted youth work

As part of the Coach Core offer, we provide a dedicated tutor, to support you through the qualification and help you put your learning into practice at work. This tutor will deliver a weekly group education session for all apprentices, allowing you to learn and share ideas from a range of different coaching environments.

If you are successful with your application, your role will involve:

– Helping to inspire your community to develop and lead a healthy, active lifestyle

– Shadowing experienced coaches and supporting existing sessions and activities.

– Assisting with the planning and delivery of sessions, taking the lead with small groups as directed

Supporting the wider activities of your employer, which may include administration tasks, social media, marketing and events.

– Maintaining the health and safety of sessions/activities at all times
