At Childbase Partnership, we are excited to be recruiting for an Apprentice to join the team at our beautiful Brinds Well Day Nursery in Orpington.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to start at the nursery mid September-mid October 2022*, and your induction onto your early years apprenticeship will take place in October 2022.

Our apprenticeship will provide you with the opportunity to learn about all things early years and how to provide outstanding childcare practice. By the end of your apprenticeship with us you will gain:

  • A Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification (there will be an assessment during our shortlisting stage to ensure a level 3 apprenticeship is right for you)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications in both Maths and English (if you do not already have equivalent qualifications in these subjects when you commence your apprenticeship)

Our apprenticeship offers you:

  • A fixed term contract of 18-20 months, providing ample time for you to complete your level 3 qualification
  • A full time role (37.5 hours a week) working with the children in our nursery to gain valuable hands-on childcare experience with all 0-5 age groups
  • A varied shift pattern (usually between the hours of 7:30am-6:30pm) so you experience all aspects of the nursery daily routine
  • Time within your working week to focus on your coursework
  • A support network of experienced Nursery Nurses for you to work alongside and learn essential childcare skills from
  • A Childcare Assessor/Tutor from our Training Academy of Excellence, who will visit you every 4-6 weeks at your nursery to encourage and support your progression
  • Monthly training sessions with other Apprentices from across our partnership to further enhance your learning (held at our Head Office in Newport Pagnell; travel arrangements can be made for you if required and your travel costs will be covered)
  • Opportunity for a long term career in childcare with us; you will be able to apply for qualified Nursery Nurse roles across our partnership upon completion of your apprenticeship

As a valued member of our partnership you will receive:

  • An hourly pay rate of £5.55. This will increase to £9.00 after 6 months in post if you are 17 or over
  • A ‘congratulations’ payment of £300 once you have successfully completed your level 3 apprenticeship
  • Potential for an annual tax-free partnership dividend payment and cash rewards for going beyond expectation in your role
  • 22 days of paid annual leave with the option to buy and sell days
  • Unlimited ‘Recommend a Friend’ bonus payments (£1000 for every successful recommendation you make)

For your application to be considered for this exciting opportunity you must have in your possession (at the time of application):

  • Documentation to evidence your Right to Work in the UK
  • Photographic ID in the form of either a valid passport or a driving licence (full or provisional)
  • Official documentation to evidence of your National Insurance Number (NI card, HMRC letter or payslip)
  • Been resident here in the UK for at least 3 years prior to the start of your apprenticeship

*Before we can arrange a start date for you we must complete our onboarding process which will include obtaining satisfactory references and a DBS check.

Main Responsibilities

  • To work as part of a team to create and maintain safe and supportive learning environments across the nursery, plan and implement opportunities to enhance children’s development, and complete observations linked to the early years curriculum
  • To interact positively with all nursery users and work in partnership with colleagues and parents to ensure all children’s individual needs are met at all times whilst they are in your care
  • To adhere to nursery routines and policies and to seek guidance from your leadership team as required
  • To successfully manage your time to ensure you submit your coursework by the deadlines set by your Childcare Assessor/Tutor
