Our Groundwork Apprenticeship is designed to give you everything you need for a rewarding career in the construction industry.

You will work closely with our Site teams interpreting design specifications to prepare the site ready for the structural building works to take place, then throughout the construction phase, working with all on-site construction trades, such as bricklayers and plant operatives, up to and including the final completion activities of the project. You’ll learn to set out and prepare sub-surfaces ready for the structural work to begin, installing drainage systems, concreting, constructing roads and pathways and carrying out the finished hard landscaping.

Alongside your apprenticeship you’ll gain your CSCS card and be provided with additional training.

What do you need to know?

You’ll be:

  • Looking for a career in Groundworks and in the Construction industry
  • Keen to learn, and embrace working on Site.
  • Be adaptable to different working scenario’s, have strong team working skills, and the ability to think on your feet and work on your own.
  • Able to drive, and have access to your own transport to get to college and to work
  • Local to Braintree, Essex (A12 corridor)
  • For those who do not hold a GSCE A-C grade, you may be required alongside your apprenticeship to undertake Key Skills.
  • Able to Drive and have access to your own vehicle
  • Some experience of working in construction or in a site environment would be beneficial
  • What you will get in return:

  • This apprenticeship will give you the qualification of a Level 2 Groundwork, you will achieve this by attending college on a day release programme alongside work experience at one of our Customer sites in Essex.
  • This apprenticeship lasts for 24 months on a fixed term contract. There is no guarantee of a permanent job at the end of the contract, however successful completion of the apprenticeship programme will mean it is highly likely that you will be offered a full-time position at Tamdown.
