Change Grow Live has an exciting Apprenticeship opportunity to join a well-established Substance Misuse Service at HMP Wandsworth who are committed to supporting those with drug and/or alcohol issues whilst in custody.

Vacancy Description

The successful applicant will be part of the service team and with training, will support with the delivery of psychosocial interventions as an apprentice recovery worker. Key responsibilities would include but are not limited to case management, client assessments, delivery of key working sessions, facilitation of group interventions, development of person-centered recovery plans and provision of harm minimization advice.

Accurate recording about what we do is of high importance about what we do, so enjoying admin work and attention to detail is important, as is a keen interest to empower those whom we are working with. The successful applicant will show determination to encourage self-esteem, well-being, self-responsibility and build motivation with the clients working with the Substance Misuse Service.

In the dynamic prison environment, every day is different, with a mix of people coming through the service. We treat everyone as an individual, so being flexible, compassionate and a good listener are your key skills.

You will be required to have a clear commitment to the mission of the organization in supporting our service users how have been adversely affected by substance misuse issues to change, to grow and to live. This post is subject to being security cleared to counter terrorist level to work within HMPS and also DBS at an enhanced level. Applicants must be 18 years old or over.

As an Apprentice Recovery Worker at HMP Wandsworth you will be towards the Adult Care Level 2, over the duration of 15 months, alongside your daily roles and responsibilities.

Although we cannot guarantee a job at the end of your contract, throughout the programme you will be offered the training, experience, skills and qualifications needed for a future career in the drug and alcohol sector.
Towards the end of the programme, you will be encouraged and supported to apply for vacancies within CGL and with other organisations.
