Job Description:

Superfast IT is looking for an Apprentice IT Support Technician to join our Managed Services Team. We are looking for customer-focused, team players, who are well organised, pay attention to detail and have a love of learning. You must be both good with technology and people. The role is for an apprentice who will work towards becoming a fully-fledged IT Support Technician within Superfast IT.

Once you are qualified, the IT Support Technician role involves:

  • Troubleshooting customer IT issues remotely and on-site
  • Server back-up checks and proactive maintenance
  • System configuration and repair
  • User access and security administration
  • Providing a high level of customer service
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Prioritising workload and working well under pressure
  • Following, maintaining, and enhancing standard operating procedures
  • The role requires a quick learner who can retain technical knowledge. Good logical reasoning and problem-solving skills are essential. Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary. You’ll be in the habit of planning, working methodically, and following established processes when required, but thinking for yourself when the situation requires it. You’ll also be in the practice of documenting your work as you go.

    Essential Skills:

  • Excellent Problem Solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent understanding Windows Operating Systems and experience of supporting them.
  • Good networking skills and understanding of TCP/IP, router configuration, DHCP, DNS etc.
  • Good understanding of cloud technologies; Office 365 in particular.
  • Good Windows Server Administration skills.
  • Good knowledge of Security requirements and best practices.
  • We are looking for someone who has a good basic grounding in these skills and the potential to develop them to a high level.

    We will provide a supported training plan designed to get you to the required level by the end of the apprenticeship.

    On completion of the apprenticeship, the role will require occasional travel to customers sites, so you must hold a current driving licence, and have your own properly insured vehicle at that point.
