We have 2 new opportunities to join the Suffolk County Council (SCC) Technical Services Team as an Apprentice Data Technician working from Phoenix House, Goddard Road, Ipswich with hybrid working options including some working from home.

Your role

This is an opportunity to join a small team providing support and maintenance of the Local Street Gazetteer (the definitive reference dataset of streets within England and Wales used for street works, highways maintenance and traffic management). We are instrumental in the collation of Suffolk County Councils’ asset data on the highway network such as street furniture, public rights of way, and cycle routes.

With full training you will contribute to:

providing data support across all highway teams and work collaboratively to ensure that we continue to achieve data accuracy
using analytical and problem-solving skills to manage, organize and interpret large volumes of data, with high levels of literacy and numeracy skills
using creative methods in the use of resources through the meaningful application of technology, systems thinking, smarter ways of working, time management, and project management tools and techniques
responding to increasing financial pressure by being creative, innovative, and cost-focused to achieve efficiency savings, cost reductions, and profitability without sacrificing service quality.

Your responsibilities

assisting in the management of asset data, responding to Gazetteer and network enquiries, as well as researching maps and documents to determine data accuracy
offer support to the Technical Development managers in the roll-out and maintenance of both software and hardware devices.
