Main duties of the job

This role entails providing friendly and approachable administrative services for patients attending our neonatal department. The Sunrise Neonatal Unit includes an main entrance and secondary administrative area, with the postholder based on the former, and the latter used by the clinicians during their shifts.

About us

The children’s administration function is responsible for providing all customer service functions to the paediatrics wards, inclusive of ward reception duties, ward administration, and liaison with services including interpretation, accident & emergency, and medical specialities administration services, with this role based on the Sunrise Neonatal Unit.

Sunrise Neonatal Unit is a Local Neonatal Unit providing care to babies greater than 27 weeks gestation and weighing more than 1 kg. We have 24 cots in total, 2 designated as Intensive Care, 6 as High Dependency and 16 as Special Care; however it is anticipated that the unit will expand alongside the development of the new Maternity Unit which will increase our cot capacity to 28.

We also staff a busy transitional care on the postnatal ward where we care for an average of 10 babies a day. We have a strong belief in family centred care and work closely with parents to enable them to have the confidence to care for their baby on discharge.

Our neonatal service works closely with both maternity and paediatric colleagues and has established good working relationships with other neonatal units in the North Central/North East London Network.
