We are very proud of our Apprentice success rates, with 92% of Apprentices successfully obtaining a substantive post within the Trust at the end of their Apprenticeship contract, and 98% of Apprentices having further plans in place following their Apprenticeship going on to further education, joining the NNUH staff bank or obtaining employment at another organisation.

The Career Development team are a busy team implementing and overseeing the running of various programmes such as Apprenticeships, Work Experience, and Work Employability programmes across the Trust.

The Trust was highly commended for Norfolk at the 2022 National Apprenticeship Awards in the Macro Employer of the Year category.

Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria:

All applicants must be:

  • Aged 16+
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years
  • Must not have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above
  • Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education upon the start of their apprenticeship
  • Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Good general standard of education
  • 4 GCSE’s at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent) subject to the job specification
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Full time: hours per week

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will provide administration and support to the Career Development team and associated initiatives that form the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) Skills Academy including the Apprenticeship Programme.

    The post holder will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Career Development team and associated initiatives that form the NNUH Skills Academy including; the Apprenticeship Programme, Work Experience, and Pre Employment Programmes. The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of the Apprenticeship End Point Assessments for staff undertaking Apprenticeship Standards at the NNUH. This role will also support the development of virtual work experience programme and creation of social media content for the NNUH Skills Academy Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.

    We work closely with Trust divisions to support with workforce development through the utilisation of apprenticeship programmes.

    We also work closely with the community and stakeholders across local NHS Trusts, DWP Job Centre, local schools and colleges to widen access and participation to careers in the NHS which builds upon the diverse workforce at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

    Job responsibilities

  • Act as first point of contact for enquiries relating to Apprenticeships, Work Experience, Pre-Employment Programmes, and End Point Assessment, and respond in an efficient and effective manner
  • Monitoring an apprentice’s progress for successful entrance of End Point Assessment gateway to complete their apprenticeship, and escalating concerns in a timely manner.
  • Book in and attend pre-gateway and gateway meetings for Apprentices going through End Point Assessment, and take minutes and actions during the meetings
  • Support the recruitment process for apprentices, including booking interviews, sending through funding forms to successful applicants, and checking Trac Jobs for application updates and start dates
  • Update the Skills Academy Social Media accounts and internet/intranet web pages and create content using online design tools.
  • Maintain computerised filing systems
  • Produce and disseminate minutes associated with meetings, and following up on any action points
  • Provide administrative support for the Apprenticeship, work experience, and pre-employment programmes, along with ad-hoc programmes and opportunities as requested
  • Order resources, stationery, and preparing leaflets and documentations for careers fairs and events
  • When requested, attend recruitment and careers fairs with the Career Development Facilitator, and provide advice and guidance on NHS Careers and associated Apprenticeships
