Job Description

Redhill

£18,000 per annum

You’ll be part of a team of three, reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, contributing to the completion of monthly payroll for employees and pensioners. Working within the wider HR team, you’ll be supported with system and process training, whilst also formalising your learning with a Level 3 Payroll Apprenticeship. You’ll be joining a team who’ll be keen for you to succeed and will provide you with opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills, whilst offering guidance on processes.

Your role will include;

  • Working within the electronic timesheet system to resolve queries; manage starters, leavers and transfers; supporting the Payroll Administrator to input costing and overtime to payroll system (iTrent).
  • Input of data to include payments and deductions
  • Assist in running the monthly payroll ensuring all processes and procedures are completed.
  • Monitor absence records and check all documentation
  • Print and despatch payslips as necessary (including e-payslips)

You’ll learn and take part in numerous monthly tasks associated with payroll, developing your skills and knowledge to take on a range of responsibilities within a 12-month plan. Your development plan aims to structure your learning over 3, 6 and 9-12 months, providing you with the opportunity to learn a process and allow it to embed before progressing to the next stage of your learning. In your first three months you can expect to learn the electronic timesheet system, understand court orders (payments and processing), carrying out standard deductions and how to create and despatch payslips. And, within 9 – 12 months manage HMRC queries from employees, contribution agencies and banks, P11D system administration, and administration of two different types of pension scheme details.

About You:

You have achieved a Grade 4 in Maths and English and are now looking to develop your career within human resources, payroll or finance paths. You’ll need to be deadline driven and able to organise your time to complete tasks within schedule. As you’ll be completing an apprenticeship programme you must be committed to completing the course which will typically last 18 months.

We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude and is confident asking for help or guidance when unsure. You’ll need to have a good level of IT competence and be familiar with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
