37.5 hours per week (Apprenticeship – 18 months)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and pro-active individual to join the Surgical Services Management Team.

By undertaking a diverse range of tasks, you will support the Operational Managers and Surgical Matrons in the smooth running of their daily administration tasks, diary management, monthly reporting, and other ad-hoc administration for the wider team.

The successful candidate will develop the knowledge and skills to provide administrative support to fulfil the role of Personal Assistant. Prior work experience is not necessary as this is a training role.

Applicants should have:

  • Strong engagement and communication skills and be able to provide clear direction to colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent written and IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • As a collaborative team member, you will be enthusiastic about providing support and challenge to colleagues. You will be committed to the continuous improvement of the wider team.
  • You will have prioritisation and organisational skills
  • You will be committed to accurate record keeping and treating confidential information with sensitivity.

As an apprentice, you will be released for study and supported to achieve a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Business Administration.

Main duties of the job

This is a learning role, and the individual will develop skills, knowledge and behaviours over the period of the Apprenticeship.

Tasks will include:

  • Dealing with in-coming and out-going calls and correspondence
  • Diary management
  • Arranging meetings
  • Creation and maintenance of databases and/or spreadsheets
  • Typing of correspondence, reports, and ad-hoc papers
  • Working with other administration colleagues to ensure adequate office cover
  • Minute taking and transcription of formal meetings on behalf of the Operational Manager & Matrons.
