How you’ll make a difference

As a Business and Admin Support Apprentice in the Partnership and Commissioning Hub, you will make a difference by providing outstanding and efficient administrative support. You will support the quality assurance process for our internal Commissioning teams, who are working directly with our providers such as homecare and mentoring services, supporting the vulnerable adults within the South Gloucestershire community.

What will you be doing?

  • On a daily basis, as an apprentice, you will be working closely and alongside existing experienced staff, assisting them to provide a front line service to both internal and external customers via telephone, email and in person. 
  • You will utilise your planning and organisation skills, by undertaking a number of different administrative activities, including processing and inputting data on spreadsheets and databases to enable prompt payments to our providers.
  • You will learn how to take meeting notes and action plans during meetings.
  • In the role you will be taught how to facilitate arranging meetings, both in person and via Microsoft Teams with external partners.
  • Throughout your 18 month apprenticeship, we will allocate you a workplace mentor to give you guidance and support in completing your Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship programme, which requires some day release learning at SGS College, Filton Avenue, Filton, Bristol, BS34 7AT and face to face learning in the workplace.

  • Things we need you to know:

    All candidates that successfully reach the interview stages will be required to provide a 10 minute presentation as part of the recruitment process. Candidates who do not provide a presentation at interview will not process through the recruitment process.

    The salary for this apprenticeship is set at the current National Minimum Wage;

    To successfully complete the apprenticeship, you will be required to complete an end point assessment that consists of a synoptic end-test, portfolio and reflective discussion.

    We are currently working with a mix of working in the office or at home, which is determined in line with the requirements of the role and needs of the department.

    What we need from you

  • You will ideally hold a minimum of GCSE A*-C (or Grade 4-9) or equivalent qualification in English and Maths or be willing to undertake and gain Functional Skills in English and Maths as part of the apprenticeship.
  • It is essential that you have the drive and willingness to learn new things and be committed to gaining your qualification.
  • We require you to have a high degree of accuracy with all assigned duties.
  • You must have good IT skills including knowledge of standard software packages and ability to be trained on bespoke software and databases.
  • You will be a good team player with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues to co-ordinate and prioritise tasks. 
  • You must have good verbal and written communication skills to provide a high level of customer service.
