The SEA LIFE Trust is aregistered charity setup by Merlin which works globally to protect the world’soceans and the amazing marine life that lives within them. Our vision is aworld where our oceans are healthy, properly protected and full of diverselife. We champion the need for plastic-free oceans and an end toover-exploitation of marine life through supporting global projects, runningcampaigns and through our two marine animal sanctuaries, for seals in Cornwall,UK and beluga whales in Iceland.

We are currentlyrecruiting for a  Finance Assistant Apprentice tojoin our SEALIFE Trust Finance Team, based at our Poole HQ. This is an 18-month fixed term opportunity.

About the Role…

This is a great opportunityto enter the world of finance. You will providesupport to internal and external customers within the finance function of theTrust. You will assist in the day to dayfinancial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/oryear-end financial statements. Keyobjectives include:

  • Maintaining accurate receivables and payables registers for the Sea Life Trust and its subsidiaries.
  • Assisting in the preparation of timely, accurate month end reports.
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual reconciliation schedules for statutory annual accounts for the Trust and its subsidiaries.
  • You will attend college weekly or block release as required andneed to ensure that that your portfolio is kept up to date and to a goodstandard, meeting monthly deadlines set out by the external training provider. You will undertake an end-point assessment comprisingof an exam and presentation of a final showcase portfolio.

    On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will achieve Level 3Assistant Accountant/Tax Technician qualification.

  • You must have gained at least 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 (old system A*-C).
  • You must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Friendly and reliable, able to work as part of a team.
