Main duties of the job

Apprentice Pharmacy Support Worker

£4.30 per hour

18 month contract – Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week

Due to the progression of the previous post holder, we have an exciting vacancy for an Apprentice Pharmacy Support Worker to work within our small but busy distribution team.

The post holder will be involved in the stock check, supply and distribution of medicines to wards at Blackpool Victoria and Clifton Hospital, by the way of a weekly ward top up.

They will also supply medicines to GP surgeries and clinics serviced by the Trust in the community, ensuring the safe and secure delivery of these medicines is met.

The main duties are: Visiting wards to check stock levels

Ensuring all medicines on wards are within their expiry date

Processing of orders received in the department

Assembly of orders using our Pharmacy robot

Ensuring all medicines in Pharmacy stores are fit for purpose

Delivery of medicines at Blackpool Victoria Hospital

The successful candidate must be methodical in their approach to work and have a good eye for detail. They must be able to work using their own initiative and also be a good team player. Some lifting is required in this role.

No formal qualifications are required, however the post holder must possess good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Training will be given on the job and once in post the post holder must complete an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services and a Btec Level 2 Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science. This could lead on to further qualifications in this area for the right candidate.

Due to the current Government eligibility criteria for Government funded apprenticeship schemes, we are currently only able to accept applications from candidates who have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years, and who are not already in any form of Government funded education.

If successful after interview and all pre-employment checks are completed satisfactorily, a start date will be agreed and enrolment to the apprenticeship which will include an initial assessment will take place within 2 weeks of your start date
