To support the smooth running of the day to day activities of the laboratory under the supervision of the Laboratory supervisor. Activities including waste management, facility and equipment cleaning, consumable stock control and microbiology support. To complete the Laboratory Technician apprenticeship standard. A Laboratory technician within OXB performs a wide range of support functions from analytical tests to laboratory cleaning. The Technician will also engage in the day-to-day running of the laboratory including controlled temperature monitoring, instrument calibration, scheduled cleaning and participate in continuous improvement activities, enabling OXB to improve its systems and procedures.
Duties to include:
Adherence to internal and external regulatory requirements e.g. GLP, GMP, GDP
Support the laboratory waste management processes, including operation of lab washers and autoclaves
Support facility and equipment cleaning schedules within OXB laboratory suites in accordance to approved standard operating procedures
Oversee, maintain and ensure stock of lab consumables, media, solutions and buffers
Support the Microbiology lab with sample testing with a range of microbiology techniques
Maintaining safe working practices, following environmental, health and safety procedures within the laboratory facility. Supporting review Risk assessments, COSHH and MSDS data sheets
Maintaining equipment records for maintenance and calibration
Accurate record keeping and documentation
