Overview

Approved for delivery on the 06/06/2017, the accident repair technician, Advanced apprenticeship standard provides a level 3, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 24 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

As an accident repair technician, you will learn to repair all types of damage to vehicles that have been involved in different forms of collision, ranging from light damage to complex repairs that require a range of skills and techniques to complete the restoration process. You will also learn to detect and diagnose additional faults and obtain instructions from a range of electronic resources.

You will experience working with a range of vehicles, from cars to light commercial vehicles, and gain an insight into many aspects of the repair process, including mechanical, electrical and trim (MET), panel repair and replacement, and preparation and paint.

As an accident repair technician apprentice, you will work in a modern workshop with the tools to conduct intricate mechanical refurbishments and replace major structural elements, whilst adhering to manufacturer and British Standard industry guidelines.

Accident Repair Technicians must show they can work in a methodical and systematic fashion, and you will work towards completing tasks on time, with hands-on experience underpinning knowledge acquired throughout their apprenticeship.
