Overview

This Intermediate accounts or finance assistant apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 2, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 19/07/2019 and typically takes 12 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

The Accounts or Finance Assistant apprenticeship is for aspiring financial accountants who want to start their career by developing their knowledge and skills working in a real financial setting.

As an apprentice, you will be responsible for assisting qualified professionals with their general accountancy duties and start to build key relationships within an organisation and throughout the industry. You will be aware of the principles of bookkeeping and basic accounting practices, and keep up to date with the latest developments in systems and policies.

Apprentices will understand the differences between Financial and Management Accounting, and you will use a range of communication skills and professional support to assist the day-to-day running of a business’s financial accounts, and its incomings and outgoings.

You will build knowledge of the financial function of an organisation and understand the principles of commercial law, data protection and regulations set by of a range of professional bodies. You will develop a ‘right first time’ attitude through a mix of practical experience, support from workplace mentors and off-the-job training.
