Overview

This Higher actuary apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 7, non-degree qualification qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 27/03/2018 and typically takes 36 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Actuarial professionals are highly regarded and can accurately predict the financial future of an organisation through using complex mathematics and professional business acumen, using their knowledge to develop new business strategies and enable companies to look towards the future. They analyse past performance and numerous data compounds to assess the stability of an organisations approach and work alongside other professionals to guide it towards making healthier decisions.

Apprentices will often choose this route for the intellectual challenge, to work with inspirational people and to impact substantial projects. They will develop their knowledge of actuarial risk management and formulate then present solutions for consideration. They are required to always maintain effective commination, both in verbal and written form, to portray their findings to colleagues and stakeholders.

The actuarial profession is an interesting and varied sector, and apprentices can work with a variety of areas such as investments, insurance and financial management, always upholding the highest levels of integrity and ethical values, supported by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).
