Overview

Approved for delivery on the 27/03/2018, the advanced clinical practitioner (degree), Degree apprenticeship standard provides a level 7, integrated degree upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 36 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

Advanced Clinical Practitioners are experienced and knowledgeable clinicians who are able to use their skills to support research, educate and lead the wider health and social industry and deliver expert health care and associated treatments. They work individually to provide specific occurrences of clinical care to patients as well as working as part of a broader health or social care team.

After completing the apprenticeship, Advanced Clinical Practitioners will have the skills and knowledge to lead examples of clinical care independently from start to finish, including admission and initial diagnosis, discharge, and care at home. They are also able to translate these skills in an urgent or emergency settings, including hospitals and other public sector organisations.

The apprenticeship will enable professionals to:

  • Learn to select the appropriate tests and assessments to support when making an initial diagnosis for patients in their care
  • Analyse the results of clinical tests and learn how to act upon them, including prescribing medicine and therapies
  • Develop their clinical skills and understanding of advanced levels of clinical care
  • Research new developments in healthcare and how to apply them to their practices
