Overview

The advanced furniture cnc technician was approved for delivery on 27/09/2019. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 24 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

Whilst working in the furniture and interiors manufacturing industry, this course will teach you the process involved with producing high-quality products and furnishing using a range of CNC machinery and design techniques.

Whilst on the apprenticeship, you will learn how to set and load CNC programmes ready to assemble products, and how to operate complex production machinery. You will also make and maintain jigs and templates to produce furniture components using Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology, as you work in a range of workshops and manufacturing environments.

You will develop practical skills in setting tool compensation data and parameters in furniture CNC programmes, and optimising them for maximum yield. You will also learn how to work safely at all times, following industry legislation and health and safety regulations, and improve your knowledge of the different types of personal protective equipment.

As an apprentice, you will need to have an eye for detail as you thoroughly check your work for accuracy, and always strive for improvement. You will need to be able to maintain your focus, as you work independently and manage your time effectively.
