What the course covers
Choosing the Aerospace Engineer degree apprenticeship will allow you to use your knowledge of engineering expertise, to create and produce new technology and components for a variety of commercial aircraft, defence systems and space exploration vehicles.
You will spend your time working predominantly in a specialised engineering discipline, such as System Integration, Airframe design or Support Engineering, learning how to apply both theoretical and practical methods to develop, construct and maintain complex engineering services and products. You will also apply analytical mathematical formulae and geometry to your work as you use a wide range of technical skills across a variety of aerospace disciplines, including procurements, quality assurance and life cycle management.
You will be expected to understand both aeronautical sciences, such as stress and force, and material sciences, such as selection and application. You will also play a key role in monitoring programmes of work, whilst adhering to precise technical specifications, and report on their progress to stakeholders. Apprentices are required to demonstrate strong communication skills and the importance of building networks within the industry and take personal responsibility for their actions.
