What the course covers

Working mainly in the Agriculture and Horticulture industry, you will develop the skills and knowledge to provide farmers and other workers in the sector with the means and tools to grow their crops to give maximum yield.

You will communicate with colleagues, farmers and growers, and a range of industry experts on a daily basis whilst spending a large amount of time in all kinds of weather in farms, estates, glasshouses, and other agricultural sites. You will build upon your knowledge of scientific nutrition and crop husbandry to provide essential advice and guidance as you develop and maintain relationships with key contacts within the sector.

You will also employ a range of Management Information Systems (MIS) to record and manipulate data to use when offering your services to clients, and understand how to analyse results to further research new crop patterns or production protocols.

Your role will help reduce the impact farming operations has on the environment, and help farmers abide by legislation and industry regulations, therefore strong communication and organisation skills are a necessity.
