Overview

This Advanced bespoke furniture maker apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 3, qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 30/09/2019 and typically takes 24 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Working in the furnishing, furniture and interiors manufacturing industry, you will gain experience and learn the relevant skills and knowledge about the processes and properties of various materials to become a Bespoke Furniture Maker.

Alongside mentoring from a senior professional furniture maker, your daily tasks will consist of producing and maintaining a range of bespoke pieces for residential, commercial and industrial environments, as you learn to work safely at all times and follow health and safety regulations. You will develop confidence in using the appropriate tools, machinery and equipment for the job and understand how to select the right material for products and its components, including wood, metals, glass, plastics and other finishes.

You will also interact with customers as you learn to understand their specific needs, and communicate with designers, quality technicians and installation technicians to monitor each stage of the process. You are likely to work in either a small craft workshop or a large production factory, as you learn to produce prototypes, templates, and complex jigs, and estimate a projects costs and resource requirements.
