Broadcast Production Assistant

Providing support to editorial and technical workers in broadcast settings

Overview

The broadcast production assistant was approved for delivery on 24/06/2016. This Advanced apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 3, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 12 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This apprenticeship will develop your knowledge of the broadcast and media industry, and enable you to provide support and assistance to a range of industry professionals, helping ensure the reliability, consistency and quality delivery of content for TV, radio or online programmes.

A typical day will involve you playing a key role in the development of programme ideas, helping to prepare pitches and deliver them to stakeholders. You will assist with sourcing resources for the crew and select the appropriate technical equipment to use and obtain media assets for the production process.

You will learn the entire production process from start to finish, and recognise important milestones along the way. You will help maintain records of the content produced and log the various locations used for the shoot.

As an apprentice, you must have a passion for the industry and developing content for TV/radio, and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team of professionals. You must also be able to think creatively to solve problems that may arise throughout production, and a strong work ethic to overcome them.
