Overview
Approved for delivery on the 10/05/2019, the career development professional, Higher apprenticeship standard provides a level 6, non-degree qualification upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 24 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
Your role as an apprentice undertaking the Career development professional standard is to support individuals with their career transitions and help them develop long and short-term career goals, including returning to work or learning, a change in occupation, redundancy or pre-retirement options. You may also support businesses planning on implementing an organisational restructure or new in-house training programme.
You will commonly work in an educational setting, training organisations, employment services or staff development departments, providing your services to both individuals and groups of employees, as you collaborate with other professionals such as social workers and senior academics. You will develop activities for clients with a wide range of needs and at various stages of their career, as you work with and motivate them to achieve their career aspirations using a range of counselling and coaching strategies.
Completing the apprenticeship will provide you with a high level of knowledge to enable you to critically analyse your findings and use them to improve your own services. It will allow you to build positive relationships within multiple industries and provide a fair and balanced provision of support to them.
