Providing legal advice and services to a range of clients and organisations

Overview

This Higher chartered legal executive apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 6, non-degree qualification qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 03/09/2015 and typically takes 60 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

As a Chartered Legal Executive, you will provide a range of legal services to both internal and external clients, usually practising in law firms or in-house alongside a team of solicitors.

You will act on behalf of individuals, small businesses and large national and international companies, providing legal advice around a range of areas such as civil and criminal litigation, family law, conveyancing and public law.

You will research complex legal issues, review any associated legal documentation, and order the information acquired in terms of importance, value and relevance to the case. You will maintain data recording and filing systems, storing personal details under GDPR guidelines, and be able to draft accurate legal documents of your own for your clients to use when pursuing a solution to a problem. You will also attend meetings with clients, interview them and provide feedback where appropriate.

You will be registered as a junior member of CILEx (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) for the duration of your apprenticeship, and upon completion will be able to demonstrate you meet the requirements for full membership.
