Overview

The children, young people and families manager was approved for delivery on 29/06/2018. This Higher apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 5, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 24 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

Children, young people and families managers are passionate about making a difference, and motivate and inspire others to do so too by leading a team of professionals within any childcare setting. This could be within nurseries and children’s centres, to private or public sector organisations.

This apprenticeship will develop your ability to lead by example and give you the confidence to provide direction to your team, ensuring commitment to the values of your settings. You will learn how to use a range of leadership styles, appropriate for a variety of situations and scenarios, and encourage your staff to continue their own development as a worker in the childcare sector.

You will choose to specialise in one of two areas:

    • Manager in Children’s Residential Care

Understanding the principles of long-term care to ensure receives the appropriate set up is in place for each child and monitors safe systems of physical restraint.

    • Children, Young People and Families Manager within the Community

Understanding the social issues that affect family life and various local agencies and community groups to lead in specific contexts, and develop new approaches to childcare
