Overview

The community activator coach was approved for delivery on 15/12/2017. This Intermediate apprenticeship standard awards you with a level 2, qualification when completed. The usual duration of this apprenticeship is 18 months, but this does not include the End-Point Assessment Period.

What the course covers

This role is for people who want to make a real difference to people’s lives within the community; Community activator coaches design and lead fun and engaging sporting activities to improve the health and wellbeing of its participants.

During the apprenticeship, you will coach planned sporting or physical activities targeted at specific audiences and encourage clients to develop new habits that will improve their quality of life through regular exercise. Operating out of sports clubs, leisure centres and youth work organisations, you will be a positive role model as you use motivational techniques to inspire participants and build rapport with customers.

You will learn how to make use of technology, social media and other platforms to deliver messages to client groups, children for example, using a broad understanding of cultural awareness and the needs of the wider community to capture their attention.

You will also understand how to evaluate activities and use feedback to continuously improve your sessions, keeping accurate records and maintaining personal safety for yourself and your clients by implementing health and safety policies and procedures.
