Overview
Approved for delivery on the 22/03/2019, the community safety advisor, Advanced apprenticeship standard provides a level 3, upon completion. This apprenticeship will typically take 12 months to complete, not including the End-Point Assessment Period.
What the course covers
You will work within the local community to provide advice and guidance that enables people to remain safe and minimise the risks of harm from hazards such as fire, crime or from a range of other resulting circumstances including social isolation or poverty.
You will offer services both independently and as part of a wider team of community safety advisors, as you learn to understand the process of implementing a range of risk management plans, including supporting with lifestyle choices, mental health, dementia, anti-social behaviour, crime and poverty and the potential risks.
You will understand the legislation and regulation principles within the industry that are aimed at safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, including Mental Capacity Act and Prevent Duty, and promote good health practices and well-being, e.g. stopping smoking and substance misuse, diet and obesity, mental health, referring clients to suitable services where appropriate.
Completing this apprentice can lead to career options within the protective services sector such as Police or Fire and Rescue Services, as well as across other organisations that work within the community such as working within the Youth Justice Sector, Health and Housing.
