Overview
This Higher control technical support engineer apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 6, non-integrated degree qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 12/11/2014 and typically takes 60 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.
What the course covers
Control Support and Technical Support Engineers provide support and assistance to help maintain the efficiency of a range of manufacturing process in multiple industries and sectors, working closely within face-paced engineering environments.
As part of this apprenticeship degree, you will develop an overall knowledge of the core mechatronics engineering skills and develop the skills to maintain a range of control equipment from electrical, mechanic, fluid, and pneumatic power. You will learn how to diagnose a range of faults, and complete complex maintenance of this equipment in line with manufacturer specifications, and configure or calibrate it for use in a range of specific engineering settings and construction sites.
You will also understand the principles of health, safety and risk assessment in engineering, and how to comply with strict industry standards. To do this, you will need to be disciplined and pro-active in your approach, and be able to adapt to different situations and scenarios.
The apprenticeship standard is designed to meet the professional standards of the Engineering Council for initial registration as an Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) in partnership with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
