Overview

This Higher creative industries production manager apprenticeship standard will provide you with a level 7, non-degree qualification qualification. This apprenticeship standard was approved on the 18/12/2019 and typically takes 18 months to complete. However, it is important to note that the duration of the apprenticeship standard stated does not include the End-Point Assessment period.

What the course covers

Production Managers are directly responsible for all aspects of a production, ensuring they remain on schedule and within budget. You may work in a variety of genres, including film, television, commercials, VFX, post-production, animation and live performance art production.

As part of the apprenticeship, you will choose from four pathways;

    • Option 1 Production Accounting – Working in Production Accounting, you will be part of a team of Production Accountants and Assistant Production Accountants who are responsible for the productions budget, analysing costings to provide financial support.
    • Option 2 Film, TV and Short Form Production – Overseeing all logistical and operational aspects of film, TV or short form productions, leading a team of Junior Production Coordinators to plan out the workflow and process of a project, from pre-production to delivery of the final content.
    • Option 3 Option 3 VFX, Post-Production and Animation – Working alongside the Producer and Supervisors on a project to design and run the schedule, monitoring the workflow and ensuring that the project meets both internal and external deadlines and in some cases, take on budgetary and client facing responsibilities.
    • Option 4 Live Performance Art Production – Supporting the Technical Director on Live Art productions to ensure the efficient use of resources for all the technical elements of designs for productions, within the agreed budget, time and technical specification.
